“Today I visited Maison de Naissance to monitor my pregnancy. When I visit that clinic, they always welcome me with a smile, they respect me, and give me medicine to protect me and my unborn baby. During the nutrition session for pregnant women, one of Hope for Haiti’s Community Health Nurses, who was also pregnant herself explained to us how we should eat when we are pregnant. She talked about the 3 food groups that are meant to build, protect and energize us. In the same training I received a food kit which included foods to support nutrition for myself and my child, I also received a hygiene kit. These materials will help my family because I didn’t have the money to buy them. As the kit also came with a tarp, my family will be using it to prepare for the rain as we haven’t rebuilt our homes yet. I would like to thank the organization and the birthplace, which never left the region and came to support us after the earthquake.” – Unedited letter from an MN patient.
This is why we do what we do!
